The Ghost in the Machine
|
Elizabeth King is no ghost, but her recent sculptures have a presence that defies
definition. They are illustrated in the October 2000 issue of Art in America.
Leah Ollman's article is blessedly free of the artspeak that sometimes overwhelms
the art itself.
Next time you are in a bookstore, check out Katherine Wetzel's photographs of King's
work in the Abrams book entitled "Attention's Loop: A Sculptor's Reverie on the
Coexistence of Substance and Spirit". The text is by Ms. King.
Work by Elizabeth King is included in an exhibition at the Photographic Resource
Center in Boston, Massachusetts. This exhibit is scheduled to open in January 2001.
Until you are able to see that astounding photograph on page 161 of the Art in America
article, you might wish to see the
photo
from the Kent Gallery.
