Cynthia Dunlap Gentile was born in Hartford, Connecticut. She was
educated at the University of Hartford and the University of Connecticut. In 1982, she received a first prize in the 19th
Annual Wallace Stevens Poetry Competition. She and her husband are the parents of four children.
